Mutt and Jeff..This is for Kate:)
I just read an e-mail from Kate, whom I miss so much! She lived one house down from me in the neighborhood where I grew up in Lexington, and is a childhood friend that I have sooo many memories of:) We will get together soon! I promise! The house that separated us was our neighbors' house, the Tw**ds. That's right, the Tw**ds. My brother spray painted Tw**d in the middle of the street with arrows pointing up their driveway. Poor Tw**ds. We just had a neighborhood full of hoodlums and the Tw**ds got the brunt of it!! I have so may memories of just the Tw**ds.....There was a car that sat on the side of their driveway that must have had every newspaper ever printed in creation inside of it!!! The car was filled to the rim with newspapers??? To this day, it still puzzles me. All the same, they were a very nice family. It's just too bad they lived next door to my brother.
So, Kate checked out my blog and mentioned the Hello Mary Lou From Prom Night II movie. (It's listed as one of my favorite movies.) Yes, this movie brings back memories:) This was a movie that ignited some fears at the tender age of 10? It scared the bejesus out of me! I think Kate was pretty freaked out too...but, I think that Kate could handle it better than I. She moved on to The Exorcist at a slumber party, while I cowarded in her room! No way was I watching that! Then, my mom had to take me to church, so that the priest could explain the workings of the devil to me. I was in turmoil over it and I know that the root of it began with Hello Mary Lou From Prom Night II...... and that crazy HBO special on demon possessions that my brother laughed at, while I became even more afraid!!! The explanation from the priest only freaked me out even more after he told me that good ole Martin Luther had struggled with his own demons! Yikes. I was tarnished in the scary movie world and very afraid in the real one. Let's just say that my imagination carried me away. People, be careful what your children are watching!!! I eventually got over it. I love scary movies now, which is sort of ironic. I watched Army of Darkness and Silent Hill at Morgan's scary movie party on Saturday. Army of Darkness is more of a comedy:)...It was funny. Silent Hill is freaky, though. To say the least, my imagination carried me away as a kid, but Hello Mary Lou From Prom Night II I will always remember!! It will remain my all time favorite scary movie because it was the first one I ever saw:)
Kate and I were fascinated with The Dark Crystal too. We used to pretend that we were gelflings. We used to argue over who got to be Keira. Oh the memories of youth! Thanks for that:)
